Cookies and Local Storage
Last updated: 22 July 2026
This site does not use cookies
That is more or less the whole policy. joeseddon.com sets no cookies — not for analytics, not for advertising, not for tracking you across other sites. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
The rest of this page explains the one thing that is stored on your device, and what changed to get here.
The one thing stored on your device
Your unfinished message.
If you start typing into the contact form and close the panel before sending, your draft is kept in your browser's session storage so it is still there when you come back. It is:
- stored on your own device, by your own browser
- never transmitted to me or to anyone else
- erased when you close the tab, or as soon as the message is sent
Session storage is not a cookie and is never sent with a web request. It falls within the exemption for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly asked for — you asked to write a message, and this stops you losing it. You can clear it at any time by closing the tab.
Nothing else is stored. No identifiers, no preferences, no counters.
What about analytics?
The site counts visits using Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless by design. It does not set a cookie, does not use device fingerprinting, does not follow you to other sites, and does not build a profile of you. It produces aggregate numbers — how many people read a page, roughly where they came from.
Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, this does not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. That is why there is no cookie banner on this site.
Embedded content
There is none, so nothing third-party can set a cookie here. The site has no video player, no social widget and no embedded media of any kind — links to broadcasts, podcasts and articles are ordinary links that take you to the other service, where that service's own cookie policy applies.
Third-party sites
The Media page links to well over a hundred articles on publishers' websites. Those sites almost certainly use cookies. Once you click through you are on their site and their rules apply — I have no control over, and no responsibility for, what they set.
Controlling cookies generally
Even though this site sets none, you can manage cookies for every site from your browser's settings — in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge this sits under Privacy or Settings. Blocking cookies will not break anything on joeseddon.com, because nothing here relies on them.
